Sheriff Richard Mack gives an exemplary speech at Baker's Green Acres Constitution Hall.
The Solution to our governmental and budgetary woes does not lie in Washington D.C. The responsibility to restore common sense in our government lies squarely at the local level with the understanding of OUR Constitution. Enjoy...

An aspiring singer and songwriter, Deanna Miller, would like to share with you, the readers at FoodFreedomUSA.org, a rap song she wrote to educate people on the difference between Big Ag's factory-farm pigs and the pigs raised on pasture in family farms. This easy listening rap song informs the listener of what the DNR was doing in Michigan to an American farmer, Mark Baker, of Bakers Green Acres in Michigan. The author hopes this song motivates you to donate to Baker's Green Acres cause.
Enjoy. You can also visit Deanna's site at:
Farmers and Ranchers flee their homes.
Use the above pledgie button and vote for freedom, and use your dollars to support a real American tried and true farmer, Mark Baker, in his battle with the tyrannical powers of the Michigan DNR. Facing a fine of nearly three quarters of a million dollars, Mark Baker refused to lie down and allow his pigs to be shot and our Constitution to be violated. His stoic defense of our Constitutional Rights, private property rights, and individual rights, is remarkable.
As anyone can see the war on for our food is only escalating. Most farmers in the Texas border towns are fleeing and leaving their farms and ranches, just to save their families lives from threats of death and transference communicable diseases that the current invasion of illegal aliens has brought to their towns. A lot of our food sources are being lost to these invaders whom are being turned loose on our streets by a totalitarian dictator in the district of criminals.
If you think throwing flowers and rainbows at the aggressors is the answer then you might as well throw your money to the wind. You need to support the historic American men of our day like Mark Baker, Cliven Bundy, and Vernon Hershberger, just to name a few. In numerous states there are many farmers and ranchers engaged in battles with an out of control, power crazed, behemoth, government. So Mark Baker is just one of a brave many.
Most of our founding fathers were farmers and ranchers. Just like Thomas jefferson and George Washington, Mark Baker has drawn a line in the sand and is currently doing more for your Constitutional Rights than any politician in Washington D.C.. Mark Baker is even throwing his hat into the ring for the Office of Sheriff in Missaukee County Michigan. Show him your support and donate to his pledgie campaign today, tomorrow may be too late.

The Bill of Rights has ten enumerated rights. Having to use the First and Second Amendments to ensure your access to wholesome foods is a big taboo according to the self serving elitists of the food sovereignty movement. Now that the Militia has come to the aid of a family in dire need and under siege these national groups and leaders refuse to stand with Cliven Bundy.
Most of these food activists have an askewed look on rights, and everything is all about the community. Rights are not collective, they are not group rights, they are not community rights, they are not corporate rights, they are individual rights granted by the Creator. Some are even afraid to associate with you when you go down that path of God given rights.
Socialism has engulfed the nation. Free speech is denied. The Second Amendment truths are taboo. Militia is a bad word, 'inflammatory'. Those who stand to defend the Republic, as our founders codified and encouraged, are demonized. Liars and deceivers are out in full force to control how you think about situations as they arise. So beware of the creatures that lurk around endangered farmers seeking fame and fortune for themselves.
Controlled opposition is rampant among the Anthroposophists that proclaim that they are feeding freedom. What are they using to feed the sheep? Doses of Marxism and Collectivism, sprinkled with Pacifism, rainbows, and unicorns. Thier hatred of Patriotic Americans and the Second Amendment spew with violent anger from their mouths.
Almost immediately one is marginalized for giving credibility to the Second Amendment and the brave men and women of the Militias that came to the Bundy Ranch. It is one reason that the communist subversives trying to destroy America use to distance themselves from modern day American heros such as Cliven Bundy. I truly feel sorry for those of you whom live in such a state of constant fear.
Is it wrong to come to thy brothers aid when push comes to shove? Push has come to shove. The Fed's most recent push of rustling cattle from Cliven Bundy, sending in a militarized BLM army to seize this mans property, days on end of sniper teams deployed around the ranch with crosshairs placed on American citizens, killing cattle and calves with wanderlust, roughing up women, creating a First Amendment zone, and tazing Bundy's son. This is what caused the well organized Militia to join the Bundy family and stand their ground in Bunkerville, Nevada. If the Militia had not came to this families aid, the Bundy family would have been slaughtered by the militarized BLM thugs who had laid siege to the Bundy property.
To be a Patriot and upholding the Constitution is not being 'cool' according to some. Well I have news for you, I am not a slave and do not take kindly to those that try to destroy our Republic and use backdoor techniques in moving our nation into a collectivist society. Also take note you will notice over time the mainstream food activists will migrate your way of thinking into a collective whole by substituting terms such as food sovereignty for food freedom. Keep your eyes and ears open my friends.
Now we can start to understand why the 'foodies' refused to come the plate for a rancher who raises grass fed, free range beef. Freedom, liberty, and property are not their goal....implementation of Agenda 21, overburdensome government regulation, no private property rights, and no Constitutional rights for individuals is the hidden agenda. They want you to just be a good slave, be cool, be repulsed by the Second Amendment, do what is popular, and act all warm and fuzzy.
So to those activists and groups that are masquerading as Libertarians amongst the food freedom movement I say: Don't Tread On Me, I am not your slave. I will think for myself and not be a happy little bee in your hive of deceit and lies. Wake up foodies, do not be fooled and led to slaughter by political correctness.
If this militarized siege by the federal government had not been halted by brave men and women willing to stand and die for our nation, the results would surely have been unspeakable.

The Common Sense Show
The BLM has tucked their tail between their legs and run for cover. Sheriff Mack, the other sheriffs, various state legislators, Oathkeepers and average people who make up our militias personify the words courage, integrity and honor. May God bless and protect every brave soul who went to the aid of a beleaguered family. Our American heroes prevented another Ruby Ridge and Americans should forever be grateful to all who went to the aid of Cliven Bundy. America still has many great people who are worthy of the descriptive term, hero. Cliven Bundy has also demonstrated to the world what is means to be an American and stand up to tyranny and win. Like so many overreaching federal agencies, when confronted, they are cowards and they tuck their collective tails between their legs and run for cover.
They Will Be BackAs has been widely reported, the Chinese have paid $4.5 billion dollars to build a solar plant on the Bundy property. The Clark County (NV) Commissioners are on the hook for that money. This is why one of their threatened to send anyone traveling to the aid of Bundy home in a body bag. There is absolutely no way that the Bundy Affair is over.
Sometimes, our personal life experiences prepare us in ways which helps us to understand an event in a manner that the general public will not see because the public does not have the experience. The events at Cliven Bundy’s property is something that I have lived through and I can see clearly what is happening and what is coming. This is much more than a land grab and a case of simple cronyism resulting in a land grab of the Bundy property. This kind of event has been happening and is happening as I write these words. Soon this kind of event will be commonplace.
Nearly all people reporting on this issue see it as a one-time resource grab involving Senator Harry Reid, his sons, the Clark County Commissioners and the Chinese government. The people reporting this are correct. However, this goes much, much further. Unfortunately, I have the experience to recognize this for what this is. Also, I have come across a Bureau of Land Management Policy Manual which spells out what is happening to Bundy and why.
I feel compelled to tell you at this point that my life was endangered when I exposed these connections in my neighborhood. While on the air with Annie DeRiso and Jim Marrs, the building I was in was shot at eight times. This event was recorded on the archives of the Republic Broadcasting Network. Additionally, a pair of men repeatedly tried to run me off the road one Saturday night approximately 6 miles from my home. The event was recorded from my 911 call which lasted 10 minutes, but the transcripts and recordings all disappeared. In both cases, law enforcement covered the crimes committed against me despite the fact that there were multiple witnesses to each event. Each event involved my revelations to the public about John McCain cronyism with the foreign owners of the Canamex Highway system and their plans to steal all property within my rural community. This is precisely why Cliven Bundy’s life is in danger. He is experiencing what I have lived through. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Bundy affair is just getting started and the following paragraphs will demonstrate why this is true.
The Arizona Coalition to Protect Personal Property Rights (ACPPR) vs. Sen. McCain’s Canamex Highway ForcesI live in rural Arizona approximately 20 miles north of metropolitan Phoenix and 20 miles south of Wickenburg, AZ. Over 10 years ago, 300 homeowners in our immediate area faced an undeclared de facto eminent domain action against us without so much as one dime being offered in compensation. My community responded to challenge by forming the ACPPR and I was asked to be the spokesperson and I later became the director.
My sleepy, rural area had grand designs placed upon us by the forces behind the North American Union and in particular the Canamex Highway which was to connect Mexico with Canada. The highway was to run 8 miles to the west of my home which should not have been a threat to the globalist forces behind this transportation corridor. However, my area was slated as a Canamex international multimodal hub. This meant that 6 miles to the east of home a railway hub, a trucking depository and a small auxiliary airport left over from WW II was to be converted to a small airport to service the goods and services coming into this hub. My community was caught between the highway and the multimodal hub. To make things worse, my community also sits upon the largest underground water aquifer in Arizona known as the Hassayampa. The globalists needed our water to service the hub and they could not allow 300 homes to drain the reservoir. Therefore, the McCain forces convinced local politicians to legislate against us and strip us of all property rights in attempt to force us out over a period of time without paying us for the loss of our homes.
Over an eight year period, I was able to convince several of our Maricopa County Commissioners and a good number of State Legislators as to what was truly happening us. We were able to build a coalition and turn back the McCain group who was working on behalf of the foreign ownership of the Canamex. In short, they wanted our water and our land to build a monolithic infrastructure hub. My subsequent media appearances designed to expose this tyranny is what led me to do the broadcasting and writing that I do today.
PLEASE HEED MY WORDS OF WARNING: I AM TELLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO CLIVEN BUNDY IS VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MY COMMUNITY AND THIS IS COMING TO YOUR COMMUNITY IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
The powers that be wanted my community’s water, the globalists want Bundy’s land to build a monolithic energy hub which is powered by solar energy controlled by the Chinese and they want to put it on Bundy’s property and I have the document that proves these claims.
Solar Energy ZonesI have discovered the existence of a BLM document which introduces America to a new Agenda 21 land designation and it called a “Solar Energy Zone”. The smoking gun BLM document is entitled:
Regional Mitigation Strategy for theDry Lake Solar Energy ZoneTechnical Note 444Produced by:Bureau of Land ManagementMarch 2014http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medialib/blm/wo/blm_library/tech_notes.Par.29872.File.dat/TN_444.pdfThe BLM produced document carefully spells out all the Agenda 21 precautions to protect the environment and indigenous wildlife in these newly created Solar Energy Zones. The document specifically mentions the tortoise and it need to be protected, which is at issue in the Bundy case. Every form of species is protected within these Solar Energy Zones except for humans and nothing is mentioned about how land will be acquired through the eminent domain process.
The document makes it clear that land can be acquired to protect local species which could be threatened. This is how the federal government is getting around declaring eminent domain and paying people fair market value for their land, prior to stealing it. This is exactly what my community went through in the last decade in fighting against the Canamex Highway.
Reid, Clark County Commissioners, the Chinese and Cronyism“The Bureau of Land Management, whose director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations”.
Most people view the recent events directed at Bundy to be a case of political and economic cronyism. There is certainly that element. However, this is much bigger than the corrupt Harry Reid and his sons. The next few sections will begin to connect the relevant dots and a clearer picture will begin to emerge.
TreasonNoted researcher, Vicky Davis, sent me the location of the proposed solar farm where Bundy’s property is located and its neighbor is Nellis Air Force Base. It’s right there and Harry Reid is aiding and abetting the Red Chinese to locate a facility close the AFB. The same overlap is mentioned in the previously identified BLM Solar Energy Zones document.
When I was serving as the Spokesperson and later as the Director of the ACPPR, I noticed that nearly all Canamex Highways were located adjacent to a military base. I also noticed that the existence of an inland port was located in the same area. And we know that the Chinese are heavily involved in the control of inland ports.
Connecting the DotsIt is time to connect the dots on one leg of this land grab in Nevada. The I-15 Canamex Highway runs adjacent to the planned theft of the Bundy property. In this location, a new Agenda 21 land designation is emerging and it is called a “Solar Energy Zone”. Solar Energy Zones will connect the variables of the Canamex, the evisceration of private property rights, land use delineated in the Agenda 21 Wildlands, the control of all transportation corridors within the United States and the ultimate betrayal, the Chinese control of all military bases in the United States.
How do I know this? First, I have lived through the same resource theft, property rights grab with the Canamex. Additionally, in Arizona, we are also establishing a solar farm system that has all the hallmark traits of what is going on at the Bundy property. The Arizona state government is cooperating with various federal agencies to build a massive solar farm 70 miles southeast of Phoenix. The Arizona solar project is located adjacent to Luke AFB flight operations and it is near another energy resource, the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. As an aside, I was contacted by a Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant employee this week. FEMA has been on sight in a surprise inspection and my source has expressed apprehension and surprise at this development. Does anyone else smell a false flag coming? Also, as time goes on, I am certain this will connect the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant to the solar farm.
The Bundy area contains the exact same set of variables as what I am seeing here in Arizona in that we see the Canamex Highway nearby, a land grab, proximity to a military base and proximity to another large energy resource, the nearby Hoover Dam. I suspect that I am now going to hear from many people across the country who are going to now connect these dots in their home state and see this for what it is.
If the Chinese gain control of all new energy (i.e. solar power), can imagine what your energy costs will be? Our problems with this plot extend far beyond energy costs.
Coincidence or Conspiracy?

This would be a precursor event to an invasion in which an invading force would secure all transportation routes.
It is becoming clear that these Solar Energy Zones will be merged with other major energy sources (i.e. hydroelectric and nuclear power). This will potentially give the Chinese complete control over our energy and they can charge whatever they want.
Further, placing Chinese interests near a major military installation can be construed as another precursor to invasion. The bases could easily be neutralized before they could stop the advance of an invading blue-helmet military force.
ConclusionMy fellow Americans, we are seeing this government hand off all future energy to the Chinese. They are stealing American land to do so, through agencies such as the EPA and BLM. The Chinese will soon be occupying the bases adjacent to these Solar Energy Zones. This should scare the hell out of all us. We are about to be occupied by Communist Chinese forces and our federal government agencies are a party to this take over. I will be writing on the military aspect of this threat in a future article.

In an epic standoff that Infowars reporter David Knight described as being like “something out of a movie,” supporters of Nevada cattle rancher Cliven Bundy advanced on a position held by BLM agents despite threats that they would be shot at, eventually forcing BLM feds to release 100 cattle that had been stolen from Bundy as part of a land grab dispute that threatened to escalate into a Waco-style confrontation.
Mainstream Media LIES About Federal Standoff
By: Andrew Mastrocola
In a surprising move Saturday morning, Cliven Bundy ordered his cowboys to bring home the cattle that were corralled and detained by the BLM and their contract cowboys.
Thousands of Americans had descended upon Nevada this past week to support the Bundy family and demand that Sheriff Gillespie crawl out from under his desk and do his Constitutional duty as the duly elected Sheriff. Saturday morning Sheriff Gillespie finally made an appearance at the Bundy Ranch to announce that the BLM was ceasing the roundup. Cliven Bundy gave the sheriff one hour to disarm the BLM, and return the lands to the right-full users, the American people. When 1 hour passed without word from the sheriff, Bundy forged ahead and reclaimed his stolen property.
The Bundy's were not alone any longer. After suffering a week of physical and psychological abuse by the New World Order, Agenda, Agricultural Industrial Complex controlled, oath breaking, federal jackboot thugs, the American people came to the ranch en masse to stand fast against federal tyranny and refused to back down when threatened to be shot on the spot by government snipers.
Where do federal agents get the authority to run roughshod over Americans? It is not from the Constitution, that is for sure. This should make everyone realize that it is not we the people that are out of line, but that rather it is our own government that has become the domestic terrorists 0ur founders warned us about.
God Bless this great Republic! God have mercy on our oppressors!

Coalition of Western State Legislators, Sheriffs, and Veterans Stand Vigil in Support of Embattled Nevada Rancher, Cliven Bundy ‘To Prevent Another Ruby Ridge or Waco”
A Delegation of state legislators, lead by Washington State Representative Matt Shea, along with a delegation of current serving Sheriffs, lead by Sheriff Richard Mack of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, and military and police members of Oath Keepers, are converging on the site of a stand-off between federal law enforcement and Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy, to prevent bloodshed and to stand in defense of hardworking rural Americans who are under assault by a runaway federal government.
LAS VEGAS, NV, April 10, 2014
The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA.org), led by retired Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack, and the Oath Keepers organization (oathkeepers.org) are assisting Washington State Representative Matt Shea in organizing a delegation of current serving Western state legislators and Sheriffs to travel to the site of a tense stand-off between Bunkerville, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The delegation is traveling to Nevada to support a coalition of current serving Nevada legislators being organized by Nevada State Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, of Las Vegas, to stand vigil at the Bundy ranch to prevent Federal Government provocation of violence resulting in another Ruby Ridge or Waco type incident. They also hope that their example of oath-sworn public servants defending the rights of the people will prompt Clark County, Nevada Sheriff Douglas Gillespie and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval to honor their oaths of office by taking real action to defend the rights of the Bundy family, the rights of all Nevadans, and the sovereignty of the State of Nevada.
Yesterday, April 9, 2014, Nevada State Assemblywoman Michele Fiore served the first watch in this vigil shortly after Cliven Bundy’s son, Ammon Bundy, was tazered by BLM “Rangers” during a heated confrontation. The video of that confrontation can be seen here:
What is taking out millions of family farms and is there something that farmers can do to reverse the trend?
"The Bill of Rights is to protect citizenry from government."
"We need to put Constitutional people in place, it's worked for a lot of years in our country, it will continue to work."
Mark Baker of Baker's Green Acres has always refused the offer to back down when it came to the state of Michigan and the DNR ordering fines of $700,000 and the destruction of his heritage pigs - because they looked different. For nearly three years, the Bakers have been hanging on by a thread while pushed by aggressive tactics from three agencies - Michigan, the DNR and the USDA - which had embargoed and closed in on them, even threatening them with a raid and bullying their friends and buyers. While Michigan finally retreated, it doesn't change the situation for anyone else or arbitrary attacks in the future.
This compelling video recaps what happened, provides an update and encouragement for what we can do help farmers facing the same situation. Mark isn't just fighting for himself. See more below.
From Randy Buchler, publicist for Baker's Green Acres:
As a publicist for Baker's Green Acres, I am asking for your help. Their domestic family farm operation has been all but destroyed over the last 2+ years due to government harassment, threats and an unconstitutional Invasive Species Order and Declaratory Ruling from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
However, on February 26th, 2014, the DNR and Attorney General's office conceded that Baker's pigs are no longer illegal. Their reversal on their stance with Baker's pigs was a move to avoid going to trial where they would have been forced to explain their selective enforcement under oath. It also resulted in a ruling that there would be no damages awarded to Mark and his family. But, that doesn't mean it's over. Now is the time to hold our leaders of the State of Michigan responsible for their actions. From the DNR to the Attorney General's office to the Governor's office, we have been let down time and time again. The elected officials and bureaucrats that are not representing the Constitution of the people must be replaced. The agenda's they are serving are that of Corporate and self interests, not that of the people. We the People have the power to change that, as this is an election year. But, we must act now! Please watch this powerful video put together by Baker's Green Acres to understand where this issue stands today. If you prepay $25 now, you will receive a DVD of Hogwash The American Pig Tale before this year's elections. Just click on the "Buy Now" button at http://bakersgreenacres.com/. Your help is necessary to finish the documentary and to continue our work toward preserving our constitutional rights in Michigan. Thank you in advance for helping protect the people!

"If we win this war a lot of things will change." from the movie 'The Patriot'
We would not even have the chance to be fighting for farmers, consumers, and food freedom if the pacifist non-aggression policy had held front and center stage during the Revolutionary War for Independence from England.
There is a war on for your food, but what will you do? Defend the family farm? Would you allow your homestead to be overrun and destroyed by a totalitarian regime? Do you realize that we would not have ever won independence from England if America was a land of only peaceful farmers? Why the push in this day in age for farmers to be pacifists, Quaker like, and resist verbally, but not to defend their property from these modern day domestic terrorists of the alphabet soup agencies of a dictatorial government? Why is it that pacifists detest and dislike patriots?
George Orwell said it best:
“Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, 'he that is not with me is against me'.”
Watch 'The Patriot' and hopefully you will understand what America's original farmers had to go through to gain our independence and create this great Republic.
The Quaker settlers who founded Pennsylvania were pacifists, bound by their faith not to engage in violence or take up arms. These are the same things we presently hear from many in the food freedom movement who are afraid of angering their global masters. Courage is lost and they do not even realize that they are being relegated to slave status. What would have become of this nation if our founders only practiced peaceful non-compliance? What if our founding farmers refused to take up arms?
Be like a little lamb if you want, wolves find them to be an easy and most delicious meal. Are you going to let your farm go to the wolves? What would Thomas Jefferson have done if he was in peaceful Pennsylvania farmer, Dan Allgyer's shoes? Would Jefferson have just hung up a 'Going Out of Business' sign? I don't think so. Our founders pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to ordain and establish our Republic and the Constitution. Are there any great men left that would be as bold and brave as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson in todays totalitarian police state?
The American Revolution forced the Society of Friends to do some serious soul-searching. Once a year all the Pennsylvania Quakers gathered at the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to conduct business and address questions of faith.
In 1776, the meeting, operating by Quaker consensus, (sound familiar?) expelled Quaker men who chose to fight in the war for independence. Outraged by their neutrality, and suspicious that many Quakers hid behind their pacifism to make money and disguise their loyalty to the Crown, the Pennsylvania assembly instituted a loyalty oath that prevented Quakers and other pacifists from voting (in 1779). As the war dragged on, patriots became increasingly suspicious and angry at their Quaker neighbors. How many foodie activists today are hiding behind their pacifism, and the non-aggression principle to make money and disguise their filial loyalty to the powers that be?
During the American Revolution, people had to decide which side to support. Colonists for independence from England were usually called revolutionaries or whigs. But some Americans thought that to break away from the British government would not be right; they usually were called loyalists or tories. (Whig and tory were the names of rival political parties in Britain, so they were familiar nicknames in the colonies.) Americans today call the revolutionaries patriots, a word meaning “those who love their country.” Because we cherish our country’s independence, we value the revolutionaries as heroes.
Because of your pacifism America is now a nation that is run by Monsanto. All the while your fellow man is being soft-killed by the GMO foods, you fear being to brave or bold in defense of your farm. Why do you fear standing up to the Fascist Agricultural Industrial Complex? Are you happy living in a Fascist, Socialist, Communist, nation? Thank your fellow pacifist if you do.
Today it is easy for use to see why people wanted independence for the American colonies. We can even imagine ourselves joining in the fight against British rule. It is not so easy to understand why people who had lived in America for all or most of their lives would be opposed to the Revolution. Sometimes colonists were forced to make a choice for one side or the other, and they made choices they later regretted. Some people changed their minds and switched sides during the war, sometimes more than once.
As the war for your food escalates and the jackboots continue their oppression of raw milk, heritage breed hogs, local food clubs, hemp, backyard chickens, front yard gardens, and medical marijuana; all these things that were lawful and necessary in our infant Republic; will you be like the Quakers? Pacifists? Or will you be the brave and heroic farmers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were?
If you are looking for peaceful warm and fuzzy rainbows and unicorns you won't find them here. This is America land of the free and home of the brave; not the utopian new order of conquered pacifists.

The genocidal maniacs are at it again. The usual suspects (WHO, UN, IMF, World Bank, US, Rockefeller and Gates Foundations, etc.) have concocted a new scheme which is, quite literally, nothing short of Agenda 21 at the end of a gun, for your own good, of course. It has lovely, soothing and safe-sounding name: the Global Health Security Initiative (GHSI).
Reading about this monstrous intrusion on our life and health, I channeled the new verse that I am sure they are singing soulfully when they give throat to theKill The Useless Eaters Rag hit(man) tune (perhaps at Bohemian Grove?). This may be the most ingenious genocidal ploy so far – it certainly had the potential to become easily the deadliest!
Here’s the chorus (which, oddly enough, seems to work equally well in just about every language):
We need ‘em dead
Don’t want ‘em fed
Useless eaters’ human forces
Consume OUR non-renewable natural resources!
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!
And the newest verse:
People are sources of infection,
Vectors of disease in every direction.
Making sure that they are dead
Mean’s there’s nothing they can spread
They cannot reproduce:
So diseases are reduced.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!
The Global Health Security Initiative (GHSI) is an audacious new plan to “control” infectious disease and antibiotic resistance which, in 9 dryly worded, reasonable sounding points, neatly wipes out your freedom, your movement, your health choice including your right to refuse vaccines or other “treatment” and, in fact, you very right to be alive. In other words, Agenda 21 arrives in a white coat with an army of enforcers enabled, transnationally, to do whatever it takes to protect you, including relocation, deportation, and termination.
They are confronting a serious security problem, though: If you are alive, after all, you are a potential site of, and source for, infection. But their pet scientists-on-a-leash solved that one rather neatly:
Make sure you are dead. Then, you can’t provide the protectors with the problems of infection, transmission, and you have no descendants who can become infected and transmit disease. Knowing that, don’t you feel safer already?
The UN Secretary General has a couple of red-hot protégés, who have come up with this devastatingly crazy solution to the problem: Reducing population means fewer people to get infections and to spread it. It also means they cannot reproduce so their children will not be born, meaning THEY cannot get or spread infection., VOILA! Abracadabra! Shazam! The world just became safer because there are now fewer infected people and their progeny!
But that’s not enough! The GHSI has set its site on eliminating antibiotic resistance, too. Never mind that captive, corporatist regulators created the problem of antibiotic resistance, which, according to the CDC sickens and kills huge numbers of people per year, created the problem by allowing inhumane and unwholesome factory farm practices using antibiotics to keep stressed and sick animals alive, and permitting genetic markers of antibiotic resistant genes to be used, and spread in a totally uncontrolled fashion, in patented GMO life and “food” forms.,, These genes create antibiotic resistance in the environment, the food chain and – in us.
Such industry-friendly, consumer-dangerous practices were long predicted to create the antibiotic resistance problem which we have now, but regulators have their salaries paid by the government but their futures assured by the industries that they supposedly regulate. The lure to deep corruption and betrayal of the public trust is irresistible for most. The cost is life and health for all, to say nothing of the total loss of regulatory authority and responsibility.
By the way, about 90% of the world’s antibiotic trade is in factory farms. The highly profitable business model is to make sick animals sicker, get us to eat them and then make us even sicker so we use drugs (or, better yet, use drugs and then die).
Of course, if the initiators of GHSI actually wanted to solve these problems, they would abandon the ineffective and dangerous vaccine route, give up on antibiotics which are expensive, toxic and not particularly good for long-term solutions, as we have seen, and concentrate on safe, inexpensive, deployable and available natural solutions to the global health problems.
Unless, of course, the global health problems are the solution to another problem! Such as alleged over-population, perhaps?
If the agenda were really to eliminate and control infectious disease, not population and freedom, GSHI would be vigorously developing and recommending the deployment of Nano silver, which is effective against every known disease-causing organism and which has zero toxicity for any person in any condition. They would be building up stocks of IV Vitamin C, Zinc, selenium and other powerful immune boosting nutrients.
They would also be using their immense resources for the deployment of the technologies which have been shown over and over to eliminate infectious disease: clean and abundant food and water, clean air, improved hygiene. These are the strategies that reduced diseases in the 20th century, not dangerous vaccines or even antibiotics.
Of course, there is another way to halt the global infectious disease threat: stop creating it.
Laboratories of private companies like Monsanto create monstrosities and then skip free of any consequences. For example, it appears that MSRA was created in a laboratory in France and flushed down the drain by lab personnel. MSRA kills hundreds of thousands of people or more each year.
New genetic monstrosities like the avian flu (H1N1) apparently intentionally re-crafted with the genetic sequence that made the 1918 flu so deadly woven into it and, evidence suggests, SARS,, and Swine Flu (H5N1), may well all be lab creations: all gifts that keep on giving, via the vaccines that are so strongly correlated with their spread,,.
The hybrid Avian Flu came out of a Mount Sinai School of Medicine 6 year project sponsored not by Osama Bin Laden, but by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). Swine Flu appears to have originated in a WHO lab.,
To stop the spread of infection, the globalist “health” community could stop producing deadly organisms. That would help a lot, it seems to me.
But GHSI has another idea. Instead, they propose to centralize the dangerous organisms for both research and storage. Hmmmm. Good idea. Make the facilities, which are inherently vulnerable, fewer in number so they can be penetrated, seized, used by the already demonstrably insane genocidalists or other terrorists.
“Mistakes” like the one that Baxter made (when it had an exclusive contract with 18 European countries to supply vaccines in the event of a flu pandemic) when it sent vast amounts of vaccine contaminated with live, infective H1N1 virus to those 18 countries won’t happen again, right?
The vial of similarly infective H1N1 viruses which “mysteriously” exploded in a passenger compartment on a crowded train in Switzerland would never happen again, right? What a great plan.
Clearly, the lunatic and lethal Global Health Security Initiative must be halted. You can help make that happen. Visit http://TinyURL.com/EndGHSI NOW to tell your legislators and decision makers not to fund or support GHSI immediately. Then send the link to everyone you can reach.

Infowars Nightly News talks to Mark Baker of Baker's Green Acres, a family farmer who has been under attack for almost 3 years from factory farms using their political clout to shut down their competition from small family farms that raise a premium product.
In December 2011, the State of Michigan declared heritage pig breeds that had been raised by farmers for decades to be 'feral' pigs. The designation was based simply upon physical description, not upon the behavior of the pigs or health issues with the meat. In fact, Mark Baker raises his pigs in a way where they can free range on his farm getting exercise and sunshine just like grass fed beef or free range chickens.

Slow Grown in Virginia
By: Bernadette Barber
Kim and I attended a very disappointing public hearing yesterday at the Subcommittee for Agriculture of the Virginia House of Delegates. The movement for food freedom lost a battle yesterday in a classic example of regular people versus lobbyists. We are not discouraged from the fight; far from, it we are animated even more. But disappointed, yes, because after what we saw, I am convinced that in the ‘land of the free’, despite all the lip service, we actually fear freedom.
The subcommittee was examining two bills dealing with what farms (mainly small ones) can do without government interference. HB 268 is a continuation of a fight started in last year’s legislative session, and seeks to limit the power of local governments to restrict ancillary on-farm activities like the sale of true local crafts and value added products, and agri-tourism. HB 135 is a bill to allow small farms to produce and sell food to end consumers without government interference. Rather than re-craft what I’ve said so much already in the last few days, for the sake of explaining our position, here’s the message we sent t o the members of the subcommittee:
I am writing to urge you to vote yes today to forward HB 135, Home-produced or farm-produced products, also known as the Virginia Food Freedom Bill, which removes restrictions on direct farm-to-consumer sales. Specifically, HB 135 would remove restrictions on the sale of foods that are processed in the home or on a farm of 10 or fewer people and sold directly to the end consumer as long as the product is labeled with the producer's name and address, product ingredients, and a disclosure statement indicating that the product is not inspected by Virginia's food safety laws or regulations.
This is not a question of food safety, as some might frame it. The regulations currently in place were written to address dangers common to large scale production and processing, done far from, and out of view, of the end consumers. This bill would not change that. What it will do is allow what never should have changed- allowing those who want to be responsible for their own food supply to seek out producers and products without the government inserting itself in a private economic choice between consenting adults. It will allow greater economic freedom for producers, and it will positively affect the tax revenues of the state and local governments, as those producers who already must collect sales tax, would still do so, but on more product lines. It may even allow some cottage-level producers to grow into small farm status.
This bill, and your vote, is a question of personal freedom and support for small businesses. Virginia was built by small farmers and tradesmen who had the freedom to unleash their creativity, and market their products to their neighbors and peers, who took responsibility for their own discerning purchases. Americans should never have abdicated their responsibility for ensuring a healthy and safe food supply for their family to the government. This bill will allow those Virginians who want to take that responsibility back to seek out the healthy foods they want from the producers of their choice. In this extended period of tough economic times, it would also allow many families to earn a little extra income, and would allow small family farms to open some additional income streams. I challenge Virginia legislators to do more than pay lip service to increasing economic opportunity and freedom of choice for Virginians.
The biggest emphasis there is FREEDOM. Freedom should ALWAYS be the primary consideration over economic and all others.
Well, actually, they didn’t even pay lip service. In the hearing, supporters of HB 135, including Joel Salatin and a representative of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, gave passionate testimony that HB 135 would give small farms greater ability to make ends meet, and help consumers have REAL choices, but most important, that this was an issue of FREEDOM first and foremost. One young farmer gave a particularly rousing testimony that hinged on the issue of freedom first. An interesting and illuminating point in the pro testimony came when a delegate asked the FTCLDF rep how many members of her group file a Schedule C, which I can only presume from his tenor and attitude was an attempt to determine if the fund represents legitimate farmers or a bunch of rednecks who already ignore government. Apparently he doesn't realize that farms file Schedule F on their income tax. Ah, what are details to a legislator, though?
Then the opponents had their say, and a line of pasties in dark suits got up to name the many trade groups they represented, and proceeded to wave the public safety bogeyman with horror stories of plague and pestilence from unregulated milk and meats. The state Meat Inspection Service had its say as well. The delegates duly noted the concerns of agribusiness and unanimously voted to table the bill quicker than you can say "Freedom is dead". The whole vote smacked transparently of a foregone conclusion.
The bill dealing with zoning came up next, and this bill did pass on to the full committee, only because during a lengthy working group over the last year, big agribusiness and small farm supporters actually came to a rare agreement (in my opinion, possible only because agritourism does not directly compete with the bottom line of big food processors). The disheartening part was the line of opponents representing county and local government groups, and even a lobby group composed of neighbors of wineries who want to ensure that activities on their neighbors’ wine businesses do not disturb their peace. (You just couldn’t make this stuff up!) The opponents testimony raised some outwardly valid concerns, but every argument emanated from a presupposition that the citizen must have the approval of the government to do, well, anything, because if a government does not deem the issue to require a specific permit, it is still implied that the government has examined the general activity and deemed that it will allow such activity with silent consent. Well, I just don’t see it that way. Neither did the good folks who wrote our Constitution, and the many more citizens who approved it.
And so readers, the spirit of ’76 is dead. Americans now fear freedom. And I want to know why. Why do state regulators and legislators fear my freedom to sell what I make, to others who have the freedom to choose? If I go to a state inspected restaurant, and become ill from tainted food, whom do I sue? Is the state inspection service, or the restaurant lobby, or the legislators who create the regulatory arms, in any danger of my litigation? Nope, the overworked restaurant owner who has had to deal with all these regulations and inspections, and still somehow failed, he gets to deal with my ire, too.
Why do agribusiness trade guilds fear freedom? They will tell you that it is because they want to protect agriculture from black eyes and bad raps. Hogwash! Thanks to our design, we will always need to eat. The worst tainted food scares have never caused more than a momentary blip in sales of the particular product that caused the problem. Americans have very short memories, and agribusiness takes advantage of it. They don’t fear lost sales due to food borne illness. When was the last time a big processor was truly held accountable for tainted food anyway? What they fear is the fact that when these outbreaks occur in their products, more people start to seek safer food from local sources, and they don’t want you to have more freedom to do so.
Legislators and lobbyists will do what they do, as predictably as the sun rising and setting. But my biggest question is, why do regular Americans fear freedom? If a regular consumer fears the consequences of procuring food from an uninspected farmer, well, there is the one place you do have some freedom- then don’t buy it there. If you do, and get sick, the producer is still the one holding the legal liability. And the local producer has a much greater incentive to produce clean, safe food, because unlike the big guys, he won’t get off with a lecture thanks to a squadron of lawyers and a big war chest. Thus we have a system that prohibits buying a steak or a glass of milk from a neighbor you know, while bringing you irradiated meat and chemically grown produce, dead milk, and foods that aren’t even made from what’s pictured on the label, all in the name of protecting us from dangers that, for the lion’s share, are only present in the large scale production models. Apparently, Americans fear the freedom of a farmer to sell products, which we are free to not buy, so much that we support a system that has failed to give us freedom from tainted food, and refuses to give us freedom to choose the foods we want.
So why do Americans thump their chests on the fourth of July and talk about the freest nation on earth while accepting a government that is so far into our personal choices? Why did our parents and grandparents ask for this system in the first place? Why do we allow this to continue? How does a country that rescued the world from Hitler, et al, get weak kneed about personal freedom because of personal safety? How do a people that fought to set civil rights straight for all races, accept stifling of individual enterprise and choice in favor of big centralized corporations and government bureaucracies? This is a freedom issue. Even those who don’t care a whit about what kind of food they put in their body should be offended at this kind of strangling regulation of individual freedom. If anyone reading is offended because I’ve insinuated that we are not free, we’ll I’m saying it outright, and I hope you’ll see through the smoke and mirrors soon. For those who already do, this is not a diatribe of discouragement, this is a call to get angry, get involved, and force a change!

There is a new activist that is sending a message to her fellow Americans, and it needs to be heard far and wide. Many activists fear going to the lengths Josie the Outlaw has dared to go in her short time on the scene, but No Fear is shown by this young lady. It is not very often that activists 'get it' and are willing to put everything on the line, but Josie the Outlaw does. Listen to her message and if you disagree then you are not part of the solution, you are the controlled opposition and part of the problem. I have posted a few of her videos here for your convenience, but I urge you to visit her website, support her activities, and share her video messages.
The power of the jury was evidenced in Wisconsin's now famous 2013 raw milk trial with patriot farmer, Vernon Hershberger being found not guilty of trumped up state charges by overzealous regulators. The Hershberger victory was only a small step in the restoration of our Republic, and more cases will continue to appear unless you prepare to resist tyranny with every possible tool available to you.
Josie the Outlaw delivers a very strong message that may upset the warm and fuzzy life that you have become accustomed to. What you keep hearing from most activists is to be peaceful zombies. If you fail to take a stand and resist when your time comes, if you fall into the trap of consensus, you deserve the pre-determined outcome the New World Order planners have made for you.
No woman has shown more courage since St. Joan of Ark, and now is when courage needs to take center stage.

We will only have ourselves to blame in the end if we do not use that shield from tyranny, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to save a family farm in 2014. That shield was paid for with the blood of Patriot farmers, and great sacrifices were made by all.
At some point in the near future you may be called upon to help your local farmer keep farming in the face of adversity or government intrusion. Will you be willing to grab a pitch fork and 'pitch in' if you get that call? Do you have the courage it takes to stand up to warrantless searches, unnecessary permits, over-regulation, and excessive government control? Will you just stand with cardboard signs and yell when they come for the family farm? Or will you have your musket ready as Thomas Jefferson did? Will you take the time to educate your fellow man about jury nullification or allow corrupted courts to prevail? Will you stand or will you cower?
It always pays to refresh your faith and re-read this famous poem of Thelen Paulk's as another year starts. Then when 2014 ends ask yourself, did I stand with faith and pride? Did I do all I could to secure our Liberty? Is this still the land of the free and the home of the brave? What will your answer be?
A VISITOR FROM THE PAST
by Thelen Paulk
I had a dream the other night, I didn't understand.
A figure walking through the mist, with flintlock in his hand.
His clothes were torn and dirty, as he stood there by the bed,
He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low, he said:
"We fought a revolution, to secure our liberty.
We wrote the Constitution, as a shield from tyranny,
For future generations, this legacy we gave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave."
"The freedom we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep.
But tyrants labored endlessly, while your parents were asleep.
Your freedom gone, your courage lost, you're no more
than a slave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave."
"You buy permits to travel, and permits to own a gun,
Permits to start a business, or to build a place for one.
On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent,
Although you have no voice in choosing how the money's spent."
"Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate.
Your Christian values can't be taught, according to the state.
You read about the current news, in a regulated press.
You pay a tax you do not owe, to please the I.R.S."
"Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold.
You trade your wealth for paper, so your life can be controlled.
You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God in shame,
You've taken Satan's number, as you've traded in your name."
"You've given government control to those who do you harm,
So they can padlock churches, and steal the family farm,
And keep the country deep in debt, put men of God in jail,
Harass your fellow countrymen, while corrupted courts prevail."
"Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oath they've sworn.
Your daughters visit doctors so their children won't be born.
Your leaders ship artillery and guns to foreign shores,
And send your sons to slaughter, fighting other people's wars."
"Can you regain freedom for which we fought and died?
Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride?
Are there no more values for which you'll fight to save?
Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave?"
"Sons of the Republic, arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land!
Preserve our great republic and each God-given right,
And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright!"
As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from which he came.
His words were true, we are not free. We have ourselves to blame.
For even now as tyrants trample each God-given right,
We only watch and tremble, too afraid to stand and fight.
If he stood by your bedside, in a dream while you're asleep,
And wondered what remains of our rights he fought to keep,
What would be your answer, if he called out from the grave?
Is this still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave?

As a pivotal year for food freedom, 2013, comes to an end, another one is sure to follow. The war on for your food took a big hit when a few brave farmers stood up, with success, to the regulators in Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin, just to name a few. The growing resistance to foolish government demands was very inspiring, yet much cowardice showed forth with food activists cries of being peaceful. Really? Do you think the government fears you? Doubt it. When you fear the government that is tyranny; when the government fears the people there is Liberty. Do you like to live in fear and be a slave? If you're a farmer do you like having a Monsanto controlled government telling you how to farm your land? What if America's greatest farmer, Thomas Jefferson, only resisted with peaceful means? Would we have ever had an America that was not subject to a foreign power? What these peace only activists are doing is actually empowering the controllers and leading the sheep towards mass extinction. Cowards always turn tail and run in the face of adversity and are laughed at by the jack-booted thugs who enforce these un-Constitutional regulations. Are you going to be like the sheep, or will you become a shepherd in 2014? Prepare now to become that shepherd, study all 10 amendments, and be prepared to use all 10, period.
Most often heard in 2013 were cries by the Marxists and collectivists for peaceful and passive resistance to the food tyranny we have grown accustomed to seeing all across our nation. What does that mean this peaceful and passive resistance? Think about it. It means you will resist with your tongue but never stand your ground when called upon to do so. Don't take my food source away but if you do I will not stand in your way. Cowardice! Why are so many food rights activists afraid to stand and resist with every possible tool our Constitution gives them? It is because they want to be their own little Ghandi's and spread the lies of peaceful non-compliance. Let us look at what was really going on in the mind of Ghandi, he was not the pacifist many want you to believe.
Between Cowardice And Violence
This is the land of the free and the home of the brave, not the land of the controlled masses and submissive cowards. Remind your public servants that they are public servants, refuse to be a slave to the Food World Order global agenda.
So for 2014 when the jackboots come for your food will you be the happy little collectivist and yell at the top of your voice, but allow them to take control and defeat you anyway? Or will you stop being that coward and be ready to stand, just as our forefathers did during the birth of our Republic? As long as you buy into the lies and you go along to get along you are allowing yourself to be an unwitting tool of the Marxists and Collectivists. The powers that be just laugh when they know that they have instilled in you the fear to be anything other than peaceful. Yea, you may put a speed bump in the road for their Food World Order Agenda, but you will never stop the tyranny unless you show "No Fear".

MANHATTAN - It was a packed courtroom on Tuesday for the hearing of Ernie Tertelgte, a Manhattan man who says he's being wrongly prosecuted for trying to feed himself.
Tertelgte, 52 years old, was arrested on Monday and is accused of fishing without a license and then resisting arrest.
He appeared before the judge via video from the Gallatin County Detention Center, and it was standing room only more than a dozen friends and family members filled the small courtroom.
Tertelgte appeared subdued and respectful before the Justice of the Peace during Tuesday's court session, which went very differently than his court appearance earlier this month, where Tertelgte and Three Forks City Judge Wanda Drusch got into a heated exchange.
Terteltge argued that the court did not have the authority to charge him, citing "natural law."
He told the judge, "You are trying to create a fictitious, fraudulent action." He continued, "I am the living man, protected by natural law."
He then yelled, "Do not tell me to shut up! I am the living, natural man, and my voice will be heard!"
Terteltge then pointed at the flag and said, "That is the Jolly Roger, that thing you call the American flag with the golf fringe around it is the Jolly Roger, and you are acting as one of its privateers!"
When the judge noted that he had pleaded not guilty, Terteltge countered, "I never plead, animals plead, sounds like baaaa, oink oink."
The back and forth exchange continued for a few more moments, and the hearing ended after both the judge and the defendant walked out.
This time, extra law enforcement officers were in court Tuesday and the proceedings happened without any outbursts.
A friend of Tertelgte's told us that he and the others came to court to enforce the Constitution.
William Wolf said, "It's we the people that run this and rule this country, not we the courts, not we the government, and if the people don't start standing up for themselves and for each other, we are going to continue being subjects of this government."
Justice Adams set Tertelgte's bond at $500 and his next court hearing is scheduled for January.

We live in an ever changing world, full of economic uncertainty and social unrest. How well are you prepared to sustain your family during uncertain times? What if your local food source is 'regulated' out of business by government mandate or 'shutdown' by an FDA Swat team? Will the food police be shutting down your source of life giving food and force you, who are hungry and desolate, into FEMA camps where the government has the only food that is readily available? What if disaster strikes your region and you can not get to your local food source for weeks or months? What if Executive Orders are activated that take control of all food resources? What if your garden fails because of drought or some other unforeseen natural disaster?
What if the Agricultural Industrial Complex decides to raid your local food source and destroy the food that was stored for you at your food 'buyers club'? What are you prepared to do to feed your family during uncertain times? Do you have a plan and food stores in your home for those times ahead? There is a war on for your food. Many patriot farmers have been continually raided, jailed, and dragged into court over the last decade. From the East coast to the West coast, and even in the Midwest and deep South we have witnessed acts of government tyranny against those who buck the system and supply real food to thousands of American families. Are you prepared to withstand, manufactured chaos, the coming Dictatorship, natural and man made disasters, and still feed your family while not relying on big government to feed them for you?
The signing of the National Defense Resources Preparedness executive order grants the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense and other agencies complete control of all US resources, including the ability to seize, confiscate or re-delegate resources, materials, services, and facilities as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense as delegated by the following agencies:
Sec. 201. Priorities and Allocations Authorities. (a)
(1) the Secretary of Agriculture with respect to food resources, food resource facilities, livestock resources, veterinary resources, plant health resources, and the domestic distribution of farm equipment and commercial fertilizer;
(2) the Secretary of Energy with respect to all forms of energy;
(3) the Secretary of Health and Human Services with respect to health resources;
(4) the Secretary of Transportation with respect to all forms of civil transportation;
(5) the Secretary of Defense with respect to water resources; and
(6) the Secretary of Commerce with respect to all other materials, services, and facilities, including construction materials.
(b) The Secretary of each agency delegated authority under subsection (a) of this section (resource departments) shall plan for and issue regulations to prioritize and allocate resources and establish standards and procedures by which the authority shall be used to promote the national defense, under both emergency and non-emergency conditions.
The new order provides specific definitions for each of these essential infrastructure elements, indicating that all resources, not just those owned by large farms and businesses, are to be directly controlled by the government.
“True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. People who are hungry and are out of a job are the stuff of which dictators are made.” Franklin Delano Roosevelt
With your independence you have the freedom to think there is no need for emergency preparedness because the government will always provide for you. You have the freedom to deny the need for disaster preparedness. You can think you can wait until the day before an act of terrorism or civil unrest occurs, even though you don’t have a crystal ball.
You have the freedom to think there is no need for earthquake preparedness. “Earthquakes don’t happen every day you know.”
You have the freedom to think hurricane preparedness and tornado preparedness are only for the other guy, not you. “I’ll take my chances. After all, it’s not going to happen to me.”
Yet with your independence, you also have the freedom to take action. You have the freedom to express yourself when you witness the government getting caught with its hands in the taxpayer cookie jar time and time again.
The definition of Independence: 1. The state or quality of being independent. 2. Freedom from the control, influence, support, aid, or the like, of others.
By its very definition in black and white, independence states you are free from the “support, aid or the like, of others.” You are ultimately on your own.

WASHINGTON TENTH AMENDMENT CENTER
Food Freedom. It’s one of the big issues of today. I’ve been watching friends of mine who are otherwise completely non politically involved become intense activists over this issue. And they’re right that we deserve food freedom…but what does that look like, exactly?
Here in Washington state, the current legislative excitement over this issue, revolves around initiative 522 – regarding gmo labeling. Not long ago I wrote about I-591, the supposed protection of gun rights initiative, and how we need to be careful and read before we sign. Don’t get caught up in an excited frenzy. I learned this lesson personally over I-522.
I was visiting friends, the petitioners had just appeared, the labeling battle in California had just been lost and I thought to myself; this is for a good cause. I was caught up in something I hadn’t thought through all the pieces of. I’ve since had a change of heart.
But actually I’m not here to talk about 522. That issue was just the catalyst for my thoughts. I want to talk about this general idea of petitioning government to affect change.
Sometimes we are passionate on an issue, without really understanding the ins and outs of that issue, or the consequences of demanding change, right now, in the same old way we’ve done before. Some state sponsored programs that possibly began with the best of intentions, are now a heinous mess of bureaucracy that hurt more than they help. Worse, there is plenty of evidence that they are fearfully corrupt. Yet, we hate government for meddling in area A, while we clamor for them to be involved in area B. Is that really the answer?
Let’s look at one of the big players in the food freedom debate: Monsanto. Regardless of your personal feelings about it, I believe we can all agree that they are not hurting for money and they have big friends in D.C., illustrated of course, by the passage of the Monsanto Protection Act.
Prior to this, a huge fervor was already building around the country – and the world – in response to genetic modification of food. A few other companies even began going more natural and labeling their products as non-gmo (and outing competitors who lied about the same) in response to the demand for this in the market. Unfortunately, Washington stepped into the fray, giving special protections to the corporation many people were uniting against.
Are you as consumers, too daft to make decisions about your food without the intervention of Congress? What if D.C. stayed out of it? Would people continue to clamor? Would businesses continue to respond to their customer base? Would we see a gradual change without the help of government? I personally believe that we would.
The same thing can be said for many corporations – the nemeses of the Occupy movement. Large corporations continue to receive government subsidies, are exempted from things the general public has to deal with – like Obamacare – and are generally protected by their crooked counterparts in D.C. Is every corporation criminal? Not necessarily, but it sure makes sense how it can look that way with the government’s corrupt involvement.
I have heard the same people who loathe the FDA, argue for essentially the same services when it comes to gmo labeling. Because the FDA has done such a good job at approving things? Or maybe it’s the new era of armed raids on family farms that is so impressive?
My point is, we are taking issues that are important to us, and rather than finding individual and community responsible means of accountability, we go hollering to our government to create yet more regulations, inspections , and red tape for us to live under. Of course, we don’t think that is what we’re doing at the time, but we have to start realizing that every time we do this we are just feeding the beast. Clamoring for government regulation on food, and then rallying against the NSA, is like having a split personality. The same overreaching government is responsible for both things (and many, many more). Also, they are hiringmore people to regulate, inspect, and fill out paperwork. Which means less workers in the private sector and more families to go hungry during the next shutdown.
Stop growing the Leviathan.
It’s hard, I know. We were raised to believe in this great justice system, and a government of the people that was inherently good. Sadly, that is most often not the case. If we don’t start cutting off the food supply, this beast is going to consume us.
If you care about food freedom, here are just a couple of things you can do to escape the cycle;
Grow your own food / raise your own livestock. If it came from your backyard, you know whether it’s been sprayed with insecticides, and where the seeds came from. You know what your livestock is eating. I realize that not everyone can do this, but there are great local co-ops springing up everywhere. So even if you can’t grow the food, you can know where it’s coming from. You can also investigate the companies you buy from. In this way, we give power back to local communities, and take it away from large growers that we don’t trust.
Join a local movement and then…
Learn how to make stuff. As evidenced by the aforementioned co-ops and various public markets, there is a growing demand for natural soaps, shampoos, & lotions. Knitted things. Raw honey. Jam. A plethora of things that not every person has the time or know-how to make, but provide terrific barter items for local communities, AND help move said communities away from chemicals and gmo’s.
We have the answers to many of our problems, right in our own communities, without asking government to do the work for us – and without conceding them the regulatory power to stop us.

The US ranks with Cuba and North Korea for coming down on its smallest farms harshly for following the centuries-old tradition of selling food privately to friends and neighbors.
Quick, name three countries that crack down on small farmers who follow the centuries-old tradition of selling food privately to friends and neighbors.
If you guessed North Korea and Cuba, you are correct. If you are still trying to figure out the third country, here’s a hint: it’s the land of the free and home of private enterprise. Aside from North Korea and Cuba, the United States has come down on its smallest farms as harshly as any for following the centuries-old tradition of selling food privately to friends and neighbors.
• In just the last two years, America’s government apparatus has sought severe criminal penalties against three farmers (in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and California) for allegedly selling food without a license.
• Two other farmers (in Pennsylvania and Maine) have been hit with government demands for injunctions to prevent them from farming if they continue to distribute food to private groups of customers.
• A third farmer (in Michigan) has been notified, in the last few weeks, that he is being fined $700,000 for raising free-range pigs that he sells privately, and will be fined more if he continues the practice.
These three examples don’t include food clubs and private citizens in locales ranging from Kentucky to Missouri to Maryland hit with court-ordered searches, undercover operations, quarantines, and criminal charges by local, state, and federal authorities.
If these actions were taking place in Europe, Latin America, or Asia, the scenario of a big government backed by big corporations bullying small farmers would likely have American liberals enraged. But, since it’s happening so close to home, it has been virtually ignored by most of the so-called liberal media—except to chide and belittle those who seek out privately available food as people unconcerned with food safety, rabid meat eaters, politically wacko, or a combination of all three.
What’s especially unfortunate about the alienation of liberals over food rights is that much of it appears to be emotional in nature, rather than based on politics, or even ideology. Here are a few of the most commonly perceived reasons I have gleaned during my research into my latest book--Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Food Rights—as well as from covering several high-profile court cases involving farmers and food clubs.
Food rights is about undoing food safety regulation. The notion that small farms, because they sell directly to small private groups, should have some kind of regulatory exemption rubs many liberals the wrong way. Regulation, after all, has been the liberal answer to many problems in our society, with generally positive results. In this view, there’s no reason to think that more regulation isn’t the answer to upsetting reports of pathogens infesting seemingly safe foods like cantaloupe, peanut butter or ground beef, and leaving serious illness and even death, behind.
Yet food rights advocates aren’t pushing to undo regulation as much as allow farmers selling directly to small private groups of customers, outside the public network of distributors, wholesalers, and retailers, to avoid having to obtain costly licenses and permits requiring special facilities appropriate to large retail and food production operations. So far, juries in Minnesota and Wisconsin have agreed, and within the last year have acquitted two of the farmers charged criminally with failure to have retail and food handler licenses.
Food rights is mainly promoted by raw-milk and Ron-Paul-loving “kooks.”It’s true, former Congressman Ron Paul, a libertarian, is a supporter of raw milk. Before he retired earlier this year, he led a legislative effort in the U.S. House that never really got off the ground, to lift a 25-year federal ban on interstate sales and shipments of raw milk. His son, Sen. Rand Paul, has similarly become associated with the libertarian agenda and has been highly critical of the FDA’s crackdown on raw milk and other food producers around the country.
However, outside the U.S., in Europe and Latin America, support for food rights, as exemplified by the Slow Food and food sovereignty movements, had its origins among liberals and socialists. All that being said, much of the enforcement in the U.S. going on against small farms extends beyond raw milk, involving also the private sale of eggs and meat slaughtered on the farm, among other items. Indeed, the judge in the Wisconsin case, involving farmer Vernon Hershberger, ruled in pretrial motions that raw milk was not to be discussed before the jury so it shouldn’t distract from the real issue of whether the farmer required various permits.
The farmers being pursued by the government are religious fundamentalists; as in, they’re not “one of us.” A good number of the farmers being targeted are Amish—definitely not liberal groupies–but who are sought out by many food clubs because the farms generally adhere to traditional food-raising practices, avoiding antibiotics, and hormones for animals, and genetically-modified feed.
Which, of course, is ironic since most liberal locavores seek out just that kind of local food. Mother Jones, which published an article last year expressing reservations about raw milk’s safety, noted snidely that, “fans of raw milk … tend to defend the stuff with near-religious fervor… .” It’s difficult to respond to religious biases except to say that our Constitution separates church from state for very good reasons.
Food rights supporters are promoting an animal-based diet during a time when we should be moving toward a vegan, or vegetarian, diet. Well-known food author Michael Pollan probably captured the attitude most memorably in his 2007 New York Times Magazine article that began: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” The most popular privately-accessed foods are mostly animal-based— raw milk, butter and kefir, eggs, and farm-slaughtered beef, pork, and chicken. Now that raising cattle and pigs has become associated, incorrectly, with heightened levels of methane gas, it’s easy to associate food rights and the desire of many advocates to obtain meat and dairy outside normal regulatory strictures as a peripheral issue at best, and one that condones bad-for-the-planet practices at worst.
Food rights skeptics should understand that small and local vegetable producers will soon face an onslaught of rules not unlike those for dairy and meat producers. New rules under the Food Safety Modernization Act begin to take effect next year, which gives the FDA huge new powers to inspect farms and enforce standards regarding compost, soil, and, water quality.
Despite this widespread resistance, however, there are encouraging signs that some liberals are beginning to feel a growing level of comfort with the idea of food rights.
An especially strong signal is coming from Maine, one of the nation’s hotbeds of food rights activity. It all started in 2011, when small towns along Maine’s coast began passing “food sovereignty” ordinances, allowing farmers to sell any foods they produced directly to consumers, without state or federal regulatory oversight. Within two years, ten towns had passed similar ordinances.
The state’s Department of Agriculture challenged what was perceived as an assault on state authority by filing suit against two-cow farmer Dan Brown in one of the towns that had passed a food sovereignty ordinance. When a state judge found for the state earlier this spring, food rights activists moved the food rights agenda to the state legislature. There, a proposed law to extend the food sovereignty concept (apart from any specific connection to raw milk) state wide attracted considerable support before being voted down in the legislature.
According to Heather Retberg, one of the original food sovereignty organizers, the votes for food sovereignty in the legislature came from politicians with varied backgrounds and leanings. “In Maine, we have thus far been able to cross all political boundaries and keep food and community as common ground across the political spectrum,” she said. “The divide that has shown up is along Establishment or large farm versus small farm lines.”
The struggle to retain freedom of choice about the foods we put into our bodies should be a fundamental civil right, with sensibly scaled food safety protections in place. What it shouldn’t be is another in a long list of ideological issues between liberals and conservatives. As Retberg suggests it is, at its heart, about community rather than politics and corporate protectionism.
